I've been musing about creating a skirmish "adventure" wargame set in the Tékumel universe. For the rules base, I've decided to go with either Ganesha's "Advanced Song of Blades & Heroes" or the system used in Charles Murton & Craig Cartmell's "In Her Majesty's Name," "Daishō," and "Blood Eagle" rules. Both are easy to play, well suited for character-based scenarios, and contain rules for creating new units. The question is, which rules would YOU, the discriminating fantasy gamer, would prefer to use?l, and why?

I'd go with Song if forced to choose between the two. Very flexible, very easy to modify or adapt.

If left to my own devices, would use FiveCore.

I'm leaning heavily toward ASB&H, especially since I wrote some draft rules for Tékumel a few years back and the new magic system would be very useful at simulating the various spells of the setting. However, I just got Daishō and Blood Eagle and those also look like solid systems.

Okay, we don't have rules but we have had the setting and the miniatures for what seems like a long time? WTH? I am surprised. I always assumed there were rules for that setting. Light Bulb!

Either probably work but I only know IHMN.

Punkrabbit, do you have any house rules for a more melee focused fivecore game?
