SPOILER ALERT . . . Well, that broke my heart. Is it time for Coldhands to show up? |
haywire | 23 May 2016 6:03 a.m. PST |
That was a brutal episode all around… And now only 2 Dire Wolves are still alive. |

SPOILERS It was nice to see Sansa stand up to Littlefinger. Maybe it won't be a King in the North but rather a Queen. I still think that Littlefinger is going to stick around after all it would be tough even for him to return to the Vale and announce "she doesn't need our help." Maybe that's the only bright spot, a Petyr Plan finally blows up. Oh and suddenly we have the "Race to Dany" that we see in Book 5 (assuming that's where the Greyjoy kids are headed). As for Euron he isn't as scary as he is in the books, I mean he's planning on sweeping Dany off her feet but after her burning all the Khals alive I don't think she's in a "yes honey, you rule Westeros and I'll stay home and have babies" mode. Other than those two things though it was brutal and sad to see what had happened to Hodor. |

Since Brandon has escaped by being towed by Meera, a truly Tolkien-esque deus ex machina is needed. No Eagles in GoT. Dragons are too far away. Coldhands is in the books, but not on tv so far. He fits the bill for a badass deus ex machina all right. HBO will make him Uncle Benjen, despite Martin saying he isn't. Or maybe Martin (or D&D) will just kill off Bran and Meera next week. That would be just like them, wouldn't it? |

This series does seem to be barrelling towards an eventual ending of the story after the earlier series, maybe because we have finally left the books behind. |

Well they only have (by reports) 20 episodes left. 4 in season six and then seasons seven and eight (D&D&HBO agreed to make an eighth season but on the condition that they would be reduced to eight episodes each and season six has already been cut down to ten). Either way they'll be done with the show years before GRRM is done with Book 7 (heck, at this rate they might be done before Book 6). As for Coldhands, yeah, an appearance would be really timely and about the best way to save Bran. They kind of have to save him (I know, never say "have to" with this lot) but we've invested so much time and effort into his story arc that if it ends now I'm going to be upset. BTW I think that this puts paid to a number of crazy fan theories that the White Walkers are actually the allies of men in the coming fight against Dany who is cast as some sort of Westerosi Anti-Christ. I don't really expect a resolution of Bran's situation next week, it looks as though they'll shift the action back to King's Landing for the confrontation between the Secular powers of the King and the Spiritual powers of the High Sparrow. |

Poor Hodor!!!… At least, he dead as a brave warrior!… Now the "walkers" doomed the sacred place… maybe they began to march to the wall?… Anyone knows to which place the Greyjoys run/sailed? (John?)… And Kaleesy… is she marching to Meering?… Good Scene about "love" with her… Next week we would know about a new Royalty family (the fat guy)… they are allied of whom?… Amicalement Armand |

Well they did not show Hodor die, so there is a possibility that he may turn up somehow, somewhere later. |

Time travel is a funny thing- If Bran had not been BOTH, 1) with young Hodor in a "dream state" and 2) with older Hodor while awake, he would not have been able to provide the link that caused a young, simple, stable-boy and a giant holding back hundreds of rampaging undead to be connected, drive him crazy enough to lose his speech and become the person that accompanied Bran on his "quest". |

Armand. Sam Tarly is from a noble family. Not a royal one. His father is the guy who told him on his 18th Name Day that if he didn't head out to join the Night's Watch, he would have a fatal accident while hunting in the woods. That's because he was a coward, like in the whole first season. Now he has killed a Thenn AND a White Walker. His father is Ser Randyll Tarley, a Tyrell bannerman. He is the only general to beat Robert in a battle. That should be an interesting family reunion. STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BOOKS!!! We are in new territory, half the characters are not doing what they did in the books, and there are major changes in the story. For instance, in the books, Sansa did not marry Ramsay. It was someone else entirely who married him, and Sansa is in the Vale being wooed, boringly, by some dude named Harry the Heir. The books are no longer canon. The HBO series is now canon, and no one cares about the books any more except those who have invested years into them. They will sell, when and if ever Martin gets around to writing and finishing them. (Two entirely different things!) Bit they will just be answers in geek trivia contests. HBO will be long done with them before the last book comes out. |

Will Brandon ride (control) a dragon later? |

Bran won't have time to ride dragons – he'll be too busy building the Wall. Note how Ming the Merciless called him "Brandon" rather than Bran. I think Warg Bran may be Brandon the Builder who tries to stop the Walkers in the past. |

I think the Knight's Ling is a Brandon Stark too. At the very least, a Stark. Tony Stark? |
Doctor X | 23 May 2016 3:53 p.m. PST |
Was Hodor – Hold the door in the book? I'm guessing not. The first time they showed Hodor and he said "Hodor" I jokingly mocked back "hold the door" at my TV. Does this mean I was warged by Bran? |
Doctor X | 23 May 2016 3:55 p.m. PST |
If we see Hodor again that might not be a good thing. He would be a formidable opponent. |
jowady | 23 May 2016 4:26 p.m. PST |
Supposedly the HBO guys spoke to GRRM about Hodor's end and he told them about "Hodor-Hold the door". As for Bran the speculation is that the fact that he can affect the past will play a big part in the War with the Other. |

That potential romance has pretty much supplanted every other plot thread for my wife. I don't have the heart to tell her that it almost certainly won't end well. |

Was Hodor – Hold the door in the book? I'm guessing not. The series is completely beyond the books now although supposedly this was a part of the plot that will be in the Books as well (assuming Book 6 and 7 actually come out). |

Well actually, TormundXBrien is fine for me, since they dropped Balon Swan who I have been shipping with her since Black Water. |

Thank's John!… I ask about the book only as a guidance… (smile). Seems HBO have change a LOT the original script… Amicalement Armand |
