First off, no open jackets or sweaters.
No shirt cuffs partially rolled up.

Why?

Because I am tired of seeing guys sweeping figures off the table edge onto the floor. grin

whitphoto22 May 2016 3:35 p.m. PST

Deoderant and toothpaste…

Dave Knight22 May 2016 3:36 p.m. PST

Club T shirt

Pictors Studio22 May 2016 3:42 p.m. PST

And obviously no ties. Because why would you wear one anyway?

GarrisonMiniatures22 May 2016 3:58 p.m. PST

I don't wear dresses for wargaming.

There used to be a guy who came to my games that would usually wear an open jacket made of sweat shirt material.

Tom

Black tie.

Pants, please

Speedos.

Rrobbyrobot22 May 2016 4:31 p.m. PST

Let's see. It's warm here in South Carolina. So, when commanding my WW2 Soviets, I wear sandals, a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and my pilotka.

Chris Palmer22 May 2016 4:35 p.m. PST

Old school style!

Jamesonsafari22 May 2016 4:40 p.m. PST

I have to agree with Winston but it's chilly in my basement so even I forget and wear a cardigan and end up catching troops and trees with my sleeves!

raylev322 May 2016 4:48 p.m. PST

I avoid knocking figures off the table with my clothes by merely wearing a speedo….hey, it works. And it intimidates your opponent. Psychological warfare.

Fantasy: Hooded cloak.

SF: Storm trooper armor.

STF: Propeller beanie.

Did they not have nail clippers in 1966?

OMG…we have to wear a dress when wargaming now?? Are we as a group so picked on that we are now called sissies who play with toys and wear dresses??

Should it be an evening dress, a short summer dress now that spring is half way through….formal, informal???

Where is Klinger when you need him.

;o)

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP22 May 2016 5:09 p.m. PST

Club or convention t-shirt definitely, preferably worn over a long-sleeved t-shirt for warmth and geek cred. Don't tuck the t-shirt in. It should fit well enough not to endanger any miniatures near the table edge -- and why are you playing that close to the table edge anyway?

Shoes are important. You may be standing on concrete for hours, so vibram soles are indicated, make sure they're well broken in and comfortable.

KeithRK22 May 2016 5:54 p.m. PST

The full dress uniform of the army you are commanding during the game.

Dave Jackson Supporting Member of TMP22 May 2016 6:22 p.m. PST

Honestly, I've got dresses I haven't even worn yet…

Grelber22 May 2016 6:45 p.m. PST

I don't know, Pictors. I think my Bayeux tapestry would go nicely when commanding Saga Normans, so long as I remembered to secure it with my sword tie tack.

What, no Hawaiian shirts?

Pants seconded!

A belt and suspenders to hold up your trousers.

Korvessa22 May 2016 9:10 p.m. PST

I read once about a guy who would wear long sleeved checked shirts, so he could lean over table and use it to judge distances.

wrgmr122 May 2016 9:18 p.m. PST

Club golf shirts.

Club shirts are fine, but at least buy a new one every year or so. I have seen too many shapeless, faded, so-called club shirts over the years.

christot22 May 2016 11:32 p.m. PST

A cravat….and hand-made shoes….and perhaps a pipe

JimSelzer22 May 2016 11:36 p.m. PST

I prefer the clean and freshly showered look

Green Tiger23 May 2016 2:07 a.m. PST

Wargaming with friends – casual but not slobbish
Wargaming by yourself – whatever is suitable for the temperature in your loft/basement/garage
Wargaming in public smart casual/smart, definitely no baseball caps, t shirts, tracksuits…

HammerHead23 May 2016 2:41 a.m. PST

Another meaningless question… Bit of fun but just why Winston?

(Phil Dutre)23 May 2016 2:56 a.m. PST

In cases like this, there's only one possible way to answer this question:

What would Wells have done?

One of the guys who games with us wears a kilt to the games. Of course he is Scottish and wears a kilt everyday instead of pants so it isn't so strange, just not seen all the time over here.

epturner23 May 2016 6:40 a.m. PST

I have threatened Winston that I shall wear my kilt when we play The Sword and The Haggis… probably one reason we have not done so.

I tend to go for the "jeans and sweatshirt" look, so common amongst the middle-upper 40's crowd to which I belong.

Eric

Old Wolfman23 May 2016 7:12 a.m. PST

Usually something casual, clean, comfortable, but becoming. Usually top it off with a bandana and/or hat.

Martin Rapier23 May 2016 7:24 a.m. PST

"Another meaningless question… Bit of fun but just why Winston?"

He said why in the OP.

I had to tell a player off recently for wearing a huge draped jumper which was literally dragging my toys off the edge of the table.

I've also lost plenty of things (mainly trees) to the edges of loose cuffs.

Otherwise, ridiculous hats are a must. Which is why I have two different styles of Fez.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP23 May 2016 8:02 a.m. PST

Golf shirt, Dockers or jeans, comfortable footwear – the last being the key to modern gaming

Rotundo23 May 2016 9:59 a.m. PST

Bottomless chaps…. Oops wrong club!

Cerdic23 May 2016 11:46 a.m. PST

I tried wearing my great helm for medieval games, but I couldn't see my own troops….

redbanner414523 May 2016 12:21 p.m. PST

Rotundo, you made me chuckle.

wrgmr123 May 2016 12:38 p.m. PST

Phil Dutre, we get new shirts every 3 years or so. The Maroon ones are the most recent ones.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP23 May 2016 12:55 p.m. PST

Preferably button-down shirts with chino slacks or jeans. Ideally with cardigans and pipes. The ultra casual could substitute a polo shirt in an inoffensive pattern and colour. No Ts and shorts. But enough fantasy.

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP24 May 2016 4:54 a.m. PST

Occasionally, we don force-appropriate attire, but not to excess. Some scenarios just seem to ask for it.

I have an itch to, at some time in the indeterminate future, get green polos with a "Zelenaya Soylent" logo on them to host a game of Soylent Green – We're A People Company at a con. Maybe have "3C" logo ballcap as a trophy…

Rotundo24 May 2016 5:50 p.m. PST

I would pick up a few forfeits…or a few flank attacks.
