Check out the Hobby Bunker website, they have plenty of 54MM figures, perfect for skirmish games, and you could go from there. as for rules with kids it is a good idea to keep things simple, home brew rules. You could design rules together so they feel more involved . |

I'm with cavcrazy. Did that with some Italieri with my nephews. They painted them up (with some help). Much easier for little hands. And as we know, you always care more about the figures you painted yourself. Still too young to care much about rules,though. .. |

link Tim Mee toys military figures. They make 54mm figures that have been in production for 50 years, right here in the Good Old USA! They are classic and come in several different colors. Plastic Army Men: teach them how to paint them, and how to do more with them, than throwing dirt clods at them. Homebrew rules are possible, and not a bad idea. Otherwise, search the Internet for rules, both amateur, and commercial. I taught my sons wargaming using Army Men figures. Painting was super-simple: leave the parts which the plastic is correct in color for, only paint the bits that differ, then seal with The Dip, and base on cardboard squares (or other inexpensive base materials). Paint up the vehicles using the same techniques. You will be surprised how well this works, when viewed at arm's length. Terrain buildings can be made from cardboard boxes cut up into building ruins, with very simple paint jobs, as well. Cheers! |

Oops. I should have said,my nephews were too young to care about rules THEN. Considering that the oldest this very day had his swearing-in ceremony for the US Navy,if he doesn't care about rules by now,he soon will! ;) Time sure flies,don't it? |
