Long story short: I moved out to Oregon 6 months ago, into a temporary rental, knowing I'd have to keep my entire miniatures workshop packed up. Not gonna lie, it's been tough! I've had to pretty much steer clear of most forums to avoid tempting myself! Starting a new job has kept my fairly distracted, but my various Kickstarter pledges have been rolling in, so I've been "forced" to deal with my forsaken hobby.

Thankfully we're closing on a house and moving in a couple short weeks. I'll have room to unpack, spread out my painting stuff, get to work on some projects, start a new blog -- and hopefully build a game group!

Geat! I'm in almost the same boat. I had a whole in-law apartment for my toys. Now they are almost all packed away. I kept the painting table and some of the lead mountain for the temporary apartment. We should be making an offer on a new house in the next day or 2. Fortunately, the wife agreed it must have a large game room.

Enfilade historical gaming convention is on next weekend in Olympia Washington. There's a number of gamers who come up from Oregon. I know a few myself, I'm in Greater Vancouver, Canada. By attending you could meet some?

Same boat. I hate to say it is good to see others suffer but it helps knowing I am not alone. Selling the house and moving into a rental while building and probably 18 months away from stability. Some toys are available but time and space are badly limited.

Patrick, don't know where you are located in Oregon, but there are active game groups in Portland, Eugene, Astoria and elsewhere. Thomas is right about Enfilade. It's a good historical miniature convention with 300+ attendees and over 100 events. Would love to see you there.

Thanks guys. I'll be living in Albany and working in Corvallis. I'm very much aware of Enfilade and have joined the NWHMGS listserv. The event itself won't work for me this year, but I'll endeavor to take part next year.

I'm more of a fantasy and sci-fi skirmish guy anyway. Any of that happening up around these parts or is it all historical?

KSmyth23 May 2016 8:17 p.m. PST

Not all. Galactic Knights, the Star Wars minis games, and I know I'm leaving some stuff out. Enfilade is a historical convention, about 15% of our games are sci fi or fantasy.

Lots more played in local gaming groups.

K.
