I am going to be running a Pacific naval campaign and want some simple – I guess 1-2 pages – land combat rules for island grabbing, etc. Does anybody know of any that I might download. This is a naval campaign with the land battles being a secondary focus – but helping to influence the overall strategic decisions…so high level detail and abstraction is probably what I am looking for. Any suggestions and help is much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. |

General Quarters had some simple land battle rules, mainly to determine beach landings, but I don't see why they wouldn't work for the whole battle. |

Might be worth borrowing from a board game, since it'll be heavily abstracted in that case. |

Have a look at 'Island Assault'. PDF link |

Thanks for the ideas and thanks for the pdf link. I just checked and I have GQ1 but only one of the two books (?) and it doesn't have any amphibious landings rules, which is incredibly frustrating. Probably a boardgame style of rules is the way to go – I want the players to decide whether to provide offshore bombardment, etc. Any suggestions on a boardgame I might rip the rules from? Thanks |

might try the free wargame rules for simpler rules. There is one under G----Get off the beach which can be used for island invasions…it has 2 versions. link |

I don't recall any amphibious rules in GQ1, and I know there aren't any in GQ2. I think Sundance meant GQ3, which has rules to cover amphibious landings in a campaign game. They aren't fully fleshed out as tactical rules, so no troop units making individual shots and maneuvers and such. - Ix |

There are amphibious landing rules in a few of the add-on games in The Great War At Sea series by Avalanche Press (Great White Fleet, maybe Plan Red and/or Plan Crimson). These cover the strategic aspects of getting troops into a landing zone and a very abstract method for capturing/holding ports and islands. Since WWII featured a lot of amphibious operations, there may be rules for them right in the core rules of the related Second World War At Sea series. - Ix |

Shoot, you know what? Yellow Admiral is right. Not sure they are in GQ3, but I they are in the Command at Sea series by Clash of Arms. Apologies for the confusion. |
