I was introduced to RPGing back in the 80's when as a teenager I stumbled on Warhammer 1st edition. Loved the setting and its dangerous combat. Recently I've been tempted to get my kids and a couple of pals into roleplaying and I noticed 3e. Now I've read some harsh words written on this Fantasy Flight edition, especially regarding the tokens and extra fluff; complexities I doubt I'd need but after watching a couple of youtube vids I really think the dice could add a creative edge to almost any test or challange. Was just looking for the communities experience here. Good, Bad, or just plain Ugly. |

I used to play WFRP back when it first came out. I was thinking about getting back into it and did some research. It all came back, stay away from 3rd edition. Get 2nd edition on ebay. From what I remember, 2nd edition is mostly 1st ed cleaned up. Hope that helps, Xin/Jeff |

I still play 2nd Ed. AD&D, and when I brought my three sons into RPG'ing, I gave them copies of the 2nd Ed. books, bought off of e-Bay for very reasonable prices. I taught them 2nd Ed. when 3.X was the rage, and the current edition. I taught them what I was familiar with, and enjoyed. I'd suggest the same to you. Older versions of games play just as well as they always did. No need to buy the latest version, if you have an older set of rules. I could still run a 1st Ed. AD&D game if I chose to, but I prefer the newer, 2nd Ed. rules -- not interested in 3.0/3.5/4th/5th/Pathfinder/etc. Play what you have/enjoy. Cheers! |

There's some kind of version of WFRP called Zweihander. I think pretty much everything is free if you were interested… facebook.com/grimandperilous |

Thank you guys. Some great advice and links – reading various testimonies it's interesting and clear thats its been a revelation to some and a waste of time for others. I bought it real cheap off a local gamer who hardly opened the box so I'll try it out but in the end I do believe 2e will win out |
