Hi

I've just started looking through Mighty Armies Fantasy and I was wondering how people were modelling pike behaviour?

I saw that some people were using a spear ability as +1 AP and that would give a +1 against cavalry. Maybe if support from a second pike rank was also upped by 1 against any opponents this could model pikes.

Or is this all covered in Mighty Armies Ancients?

Cheers

I found this in a Dark Ages playtest file for Mighty Armies Ancients:

Pike: These units are armed with long pikes or pole arms that give them an advantage especially against mounted troops. When the entire front rank of a unit has the Pike ability, the unit gets a +1 for its group fighting score when fighting cavalry units. If all units in both ranks have the Pike ability, the unit gets +2 to its group fighting score when fighting cavalry units.

The same document shows the Pike specialty as +1 AP to the unit cost.

The word "pike"doesn't appear in the published rulebook. Hope this helps.

Hello Brass1

Thanks for the reply. This sounds like what I was thinking about. I wonder how they found it in playtest. Will set up a few scenarios and see how it pans out.

Cheers
