What are your thoughts and opinions about the poll they did as to the favorite manufacturer. I have tired to find opinions about the poll both on their facebook page and their web page, but nada.

Just curious as to how others view the poll results.

Irrelevant to me.

Seems biased, as you would expect, to the people who advertise the most heavily in WI and have the largest amount of advertorial…

The responses seem heavily weighted by the large scale plastics, with no break down between sizes like 25mm, 15mm, or 10mm for the manufacturers. A breakdown of the location of respondents would be useful to a degree!

So overall the info is pretty much useless for any conclusions to be drawn except a popularity contest!

All of the above.

Glossies are pretty irrelevant anyway …

Meaningless to me. My two favorite manufacturers are Fife and Drum and knuckleduster. Neither of which were mentioned.

haywire19 May 2016 4:52 p.m. PST

Its bad information. You're polling your readers who buy your magazine for what you are already advertising.

Yeah that's about it.

Kings Mountain will win once the absentee ballots are tabulated. Other than that….who cares?

My thoughts were that this is about as far removed from what I consider to be 'my hobby' as you can get but then I have thought this about Wargames Illustrated for some time.

The results are also predictably skewed along scale lines. Most people in the hobby use 28mm figures, so companies that make 28mm figures are the most popular. No surprise there.

Isn't that poll almost 100% British companies? Seems hard to believe it is unbiased.

ACWBill21 May 2016 2:08 a.m. PST

Funny, I had subscribed to WI for many years and I do not ever recall the poll or being polled. None the less, the information and companies do seem very Anglo-Centric. I don't really see a problem with this if it is stated up front. As. I don't remember the poll, I cannot say one way or the other whether that is the case.

As Baccus notes, 28mm figures are popular, and their size helps as well (look at the current sculptor poll on TMP). So I understand the results skewing that way. As for the manufacturers being primarily located in Britain, that doesn't seem particularly surprising either, given the current state of the 28mm market.
