Hi, All. I see that Minitanks have a new catalog available here: PDF link

I picked up a print version up just before coming home to the USA for a visit, earlier this month.

I was pleasantly surprised to see many of the new releases and planned releases for 2017. All are 1/87th that I can tell. Preiser makes a complimentary range of 1/87 military items that really compliment the ROCO range nicely.

As for pricing, at first, I found the pricing quite high (12 Euro or about $14.16 USD USD. Comparing to 1/100th (15mm) offerings from Flames of War or Zevzda) and have arrived at the conclusion that the assembly and a bit larger vehicle seems worth the extra couple of bucks for me. After messing with the excellent 1/87th Preiser range of figures, I will take the plunge and try a few. (I actually had a few in my house here in Colorado.)

As to the 1/100th Roskov line, I learned it was bought (in 2004-06 timeframe) by an un-named US buyer. My first thought was Fidelis, but only used were found on their site. If they own the molds, one would think that some of that range would be available by now and a big splash made here on TMP.

Hope this helps someone out there looking to get into Cold War period and want something larger than micro and 10mm but smaller than 1/72 and 28mm.

Tom,
Thanks for posting that. It brings back a lot of memories. Used to be you could walk into any hobby shop and find them. What will you use for infantry?

I use 15mm miniatures for infantry and weapon crews. Most of the manufacturers make them are too large for 15mm "scale" anyway, and they look great with Minitanks.

I'm disappointed that the catalog does not show all of the additions to the line made by Herpa. I guess those will be shown in a Herpa catalog.

Hi, Nick. Preiser figures. I found a US distributor with a downloadable 2015 catalog here:http: link

Talking about memories……Roco Jeeps for 25 cents, Shermans for 39 cents and airfix figures 50 cents a box! Definitely Days of Yesteryear! Don't think we are the only ones with such fond memories, Nick!

Glad you enjoyed the info, Nick.

LaserGrenadier: Address for Roco in Germany is in Munich Modelleisenbahn Munchen GmbH, Kronstadler Str 4, 81667 Munchen, Germany minitank.net

While I believe that Herpa acquired Wiking (who had acquired Roskopf, I am not sure if this is the same address as Herpa. I DID see some excellently painted tanks, in plastic cases, recalled and weathered in 1/144th and 1/72nd scale (forgot the name of the maker) when I picked up my catalog in Stuttgart. Awesome but VERY costly! WhenI get back to Germany, I will go downtown and provide more info.

While not trying for usurping anyone, my local (in Germany) retailer for such is Modelleisenbahn Centre, W. Schuler GmbH, Christopher Str 2, 70178 Stuttgart, DE. From USA: 001-49-711-60 83 75. I have mail ordered from them before (to save me time from hopping a U-Bahn to downtown) and found them reliable. They told me they would sell to USA. Best is that they have/can get all the building and scenery lines in Europe.

(I have a quite large collection now of HO, N and Z scale buildings now.)

Hope this helps.

Peter Pig's seated WW2 figures fit great in 1/87 jeeps, trucks, etc.

In North America, I find the best prices on Preiser from EuroRail: link

I thought Wiking bought the Roskopf line ?? 87thscale.info/roskopf.htm

Randy of Fidelis Models is my best friend and he does not own Roskopf, has not bid on it, has nothing to do with it other than selling a few used Roskopf vehicles on his website.

There are a large number of new 1/87th scale vehicles coming out this year and prices seem to be declining. All good things.

Hi, Dwight. If you scroll down on the link you provided you will find this:

"We have received information that the moulds for these models have been sold to an unknown buyer in the USA only two years after Roskopf was taken over by Sieper Werke. If anyone has more information on this, please let us know !"

That is where I got that information from.

Mike: See….tell your buddy Randy that his company has the reputation for folks to go their first for 1/87th in the USA! (Compliment) As such, it would have been logical that he could have been "the"one". With a plastic injection mold weighing hundreds of pounds, whomever bought it had to have it shipped to the USA in a container (or 3)… Am interested if Mike may know who here in the USA might have purchased the line. (Solely out of curiosity.)

Dye4minis, I have no idea who purchased the Roskopf line. It would be interesting to know. Some items they made are very good, the bridging system, for example.

Whoever purchased it must have had a lot of money, those kinds of molds are expensive.

Good luck on the hunt. I will tell Randy of your complement.

Yes this does bring back memories. Someplace I have a paper catalog from around 1980. There is a big box of all my old ROKO minitanks in the basement. Some what worse for wear.
