Having set aside a little petty cash for some custom Norse figures for the local Blood Bowl league, I took a shot and ordered some of the resin Valkyrie figures from Sukubus Studios. These are the results of a kickstarter, but their "Succubus" and "Valkyries" teams are now available for package-deal and individual purchase from their webstore. I haven't seen any reviews of these figures outside of youtube, so I felt compelled to put up a little something about them here.

I had been apprehensive for a bit before ordering. These are fairly pricey figures, compared to lead, but they looked very good and were exactly what I wanted, which is a rare combination for Blood Bowl. After watching a couple of unboxing videos on Youtube, which did the figures a lot of justice, I ended up ordering an assortment of ten of the Valkyries, which were enough to give free shipping from Spain.
They came in the mail today, 9 days after the website order, which I considered quite fair considering that the shipping was free from the size of the order. I was very impressed to see just how good they looked. The casts look every bit as good as the 3d Models at the site promised. The only flash was a tiny nub on the bottoms of the feet of three of the figures, easily removable, and are far and away some of the cleanest cast figures I have owned, right out of the package. The material is a light grey, similar in color to GW's old plastic figures, and is very sturdy, quite stiff with just a wee bit of flex, but not apparently brittle at all, which is a VERY important for Blood Bowl, a game which is relatively rough on miniatures for all the laying on their sides that your figures will likely do in their lifetimes (unless you're just very good or very lucky). All necessary bases were included: standard round 28mm bases. The figures are not slotta-based nor do they have pegs, so they are to be glued directly to the base.
Also, this little two-person operation packed the figures very well, with plenty of bubble wrap to keep them safe, and included their impressive thank-you card signed in cheery fashion by both of them. The box was identified by their Valkyries Team logo, a very pretty work of art in itself.
I VERY seldom post here, but it's also very seldom that I am so very happy with a purchase, and I believe that for all the complaints we can have as customers, that a small operation that deserves praise should get it. I've not begun assembly or painting of the figures yet, so there may be further assessment to be made there: the primary challenge is that some of the figures are on one foot in running poses, so caution and care will likely be needed in basing them because of the small contact area between base and figure.
I'll follow up if necessary to report any problems with the priming/painting/basing stages, but overall, I am loving these.
