Now that the Games Workshop modelling vice is defunct, can anyone recommend a suitable replacement with, most importantly, the same 'soft' jaws? |

Ah,I see. I was hoping for help with my Wargaming Vices! But you're looking for the other kind. That's "vises". Oops. I forgot to say "Pedant Alert!" |

Any small vice and a pack of Sugru mouldable rubber should do the trick. John T |

Artilleryman, something like these: hobbytools.com.au/vises ? Have a look around for jewellers' vices in specialist tool shops or check larger model shops, especially those that cater to railway and ship modellers. Soft jaw covers (wood or rubber) can be bought separately. Hafen,
But you're looking for the other kind. That's "vises". Only if you're from North America or using an American webshop programme. English speakers use the correct spelling, such as "armour", "colour" and "vices". |

Did you all think I meant something to grab models in and hold them steady? Aha! Oh! Wait! Yes, that's what I did mean. Where do I get a pack of Sugru mouldable rubber? |

Jetset is another moldable plastic. As a jeweler, I have a real nice set of parallel pliers with polyurethane lined jaws. Very nice for holding small fiddly bits. Rio Grande sells them in the US but they are made in the UK. |

Hmmm…Well,if you're in the US and see a pair of "Vice Grips",better check what kind of store you wandered into. .. |

If you check amazon, goddess of everything and do a search on "model vise" ( link ) you'll get lots of good ideas. I've a few friends with the one from Helping Hand, and I have a ProsKit Mini-tabletop suction vise. Works well on the hard to handle items. |

Some excellent advice gentlemen. I think I see the way ahead now. Thanks. |
