Hello Are there any lists somewhere where the tanks are ranked in regard of one another (modern and WWII)? I am struggling for example to rank M10 vs a Pz IV or Pz V vs Tiger I vs Tiger II, etc… that would most helpful if anyone has already compiled this type of list. thanks |

Even in 5Core tanks are really rated as superior, good, and poor. Don't need to really get into the gun/armor debate too deep. |

When we play, we do it on the fly. There's some cold war "match ups" in the files included in the download, and I have some 1939-40 match ups if you'd like them. A lot of the time, you can eye-ball it based on "light" "medium" or "heavy", though to be fair, I'm not a huge tread-head. From a tactical perspective, A Sherman commander isn't going to really act differently when facing this Panzer IV vs that but he'll change his approach against a Tiger or a Panzer II, so that's what we go with. |

Just to chime in (I wrote the Cold War suggested ratings), don't forget that you are looking at the performance of a company firing at and entire company. Let us know what you wind up using! |

I am thinking of the following Panther company > Sherman Company Pz IV company = Sherman Company Panther Company = Sherman Company + Tank Destroyer attachment makes sense? |

My approach (when I was rating Cold War era tanks for 1983) was to keep things relative to the time period, so for WWII, there might be different ratings for each year or even each six month period. So a PzIV in 1940 would have a different rating relative to other tanks than a PzIV in 1944. |

Those seem perfectly reasonable to me. I'd have to look up some numbers but my gut feeling is that 76mm sherman should probably be equal to panthers when firing but outmatched when being fired upon. Could be wrong there though. |

ah, good point. I am on a Battle of Bulge project, there should not be that many combinations, they could nicely fit in a small table. I suppose best is then to review the values with my regular opponent before we start the game. |

Yeah, thats more or less how its intended. In most battles, you'll have tanks that are relatively close to each other or the difference in firepower/armour is so significant (Tiger vs Sherman) that its obvious. When i revise the rules this summer, I'll try to add some more specific guidelines. |

… this being said, just focusing on the differential is genius. :) |
