Dave,
Here are some of the Roman armies ready to go!

Roman Etruria (led by Consular Ducit a Tergo, known to his men as Rearius Maximus because of his tendency to lead bravely from the Camp area).

Rome

Campanian army about to raid a helpless Gallic Village!

Pick your army, crush your enemies, build an empire and Win a Major Award!

This army looks like a DBA army almost? Is this system designed around a similar scale?

Warhorse:

This is the update to 2.2+ that you were looking for. They are publishing it under their own name.

Warhorse,
Just to clarify your question a bit. The armies are built using point values, and for the campaign game we are using 48 point builds so depending on the army composition you typically end up with 10-18 units.

So yes at 48 points you would end up with something around the size of a DBA army in terms of figures and units.

Aah, 2.2++ then. Makes sense.

Triumph! is a new rule set that's under active development right now. It includes some familiar concepts and many new ideas combined in a way that gives an elegant, fast, and enjoyable game. You can learn more about it here:

wgcwar.com/triumph.html

And if you're going to be at Historicon, please stop by and check it out. We're running a variety of demonstration games and campaign events, including the Punic Wars campaign described above.

Sorry guys, the link gives very little clarity to me. Combat system? (buckets o' dice? combat odds? opposed d10's?). For such a small unit count, is there attrition? How do you decide how beaten up and army is? What are the victory conditions – are they casualty-based? Objectives? Morale points?

I wouldn't go to Historicon normally (avoiding travel these days) so I guess I won't get a chance to see it. Oh well…
