How to go about mounting wire based trees has always been a mystery to me.

I have alot of 15mm nice looking tree models but they have stayed in the box.

Is there anything in the DIY stores that would work in holding the tree wire in place and in turn attach to a board? type of raw plug etc?

If they could work with small and larger trees as well, even better.

Do you have a picture of said trees?

All my trees are mounted on 2p coins.

I think he means he has a tree with a wire base and needs to find a way to attach it to a base.

I have a lot of K&M trees like this. They sell a tree base in a couple sizes. It is molded to look like "roots" with a hole at the top. Glue the tree base to the washer/CD/Base and then insert and glue the wire stem into the tree base. They look like this:

P.S. I buy mine from Legends-In-Time.com

Thanks extra, you are right and those bases will be perfect.

I use hot glue blobs, then decorate them along with the bases.

I used air dry clay in same manner as the hot glue blobs.

Don't you unwind the bottom wires to resemble a root structure? or is your tree just baseless but with a single plug?

Too much trouble unwinding it, and then for stability it would still have to be mounted in something so it would not fall over. Easier to make a loop at the bottom then to unwind it.

I used air-dry clay as well, mounted to steel washers. My forest templates have magnetic circles attached to help prevent trees from falling over.

I do the same as EC for the KM trees, then glue the base to a metal washer, texture and paint. I get my bases from BTC: battlefieldterrain.com

Treegirl has mom hot glue them to metal washers and then puts airdry clay on top.

They are the same K&M trees mentioned. I prefer to mount the bases to the board rather than attach the trees directly. Then I can take out the trees when transporting and when moving units through a wooded area, if necessary.

I have used 2ps, steel washers in the past but they are always falling over.

Put a call in to Chris at "Legends In Time" and he called back and gave me some excellent advice on mounting trees using the KM Bases but also alternative bases. Excellent Customer Service and I placed an Order for KM Bases to see if they will work for me. Really like the looks of them.

A dab of hot glue to hold it in place, then texture by adding a bit more hot glue and dragging outward. Works great for it.

Unless you're doing very large trees or wanting roots in the air, that tends to be a very good option.

You can also take a small dowel and drill it out for the wire to fit into and sculpt the roots around it. You can make quite a few off of it.
