Anyone know if the Damnation Alley post apocalypse movie ATV's were purpose built for the film or are they based on something? Quite neat looking vehicles with the articulated construction and triple wheel bogies. |

The Landmaster was custom built. The three wheel drive system is the Terrastar system the Army tested in the early 70's. |

Cool vehicle. There have been several garage kits in different scales over the years. |

It used to be stored in a props lot off the Hollywood freeway. I got to see it whenever I did a Social Security field call in that area. Tres cool. |

Here is the beast.
As far as I know it was drivable. The film was very Cursed Earth before or at about the same time as the 2OOOAD Judge Dread story. It was based on a Roger Zelazny story that was better than the film. Perhaps a remake is in order. Damn cool vehicle. |

Regularly shown on the Horror Channel here in the UK. I remember going to see it at the cinema back in my student days. For its time a good film though the ending looks like they just ran out of time/interest/money. Interesting to see a very young Jackie Earle Haley amongst the cast many many years before the Watchmen. |

I've read the novel many times over the years and enjoyed the movie for what it was back when I saw it as a kid. It was close but no cigar! |

It certainly looks drivable from the film. Way before CGI days and too life like for models IMHO. Near the end of the film you see it amphibious and the bogies are spinning to provide propulsion in water. Would be interesting to know how the wheels are driven. Electric motors or some sort of chain drive would be the 2 options I guess. |

I agree, the story is much better than the movie. And I also agree a remake could be an improvement in this case, and I would be anxious to see it. Terry |

It also rocked up, or sonmthing pretty similar did, in the Morrow Project RPG. |
