Pick your favorite, most frequently gamed, whatever. For some TMP'ers, I believe the answer is pretty obvious!

I'd go 16th century:
Great Italian Wars.
Cortez, Drake, and Hawkins.
Armadas of carracks, galleons, and galleasses.

Winston Smith14 May 2016 10:41 a.m. PST

That would have to be the twentieth century. All possible levels of tech, from stone axes [New Guinea], to Jet fighters and Nukes.

20th & 19th. I'm all about Vietnam, FPW, and Napoleonics at the moment…unless it's Pirates, or 7YW, although ancient are fun, or crusades…wonder if I can fit some cavemen in somewhere.

Ragbones14 May 2016 4:05 p.m. PST

Bits and pieces on land from 1690 through 1913. No single century draws me for its entirety. Aerial 1914 through 1989.

The 3rd Century BC and the 19th century. I know there is a big difference between the two, but what can I say.

18th for wargaming. 19th for the history.

brass115 May 2016 9:17 a.m. PST

17th. It begins with pikes and matchlock muskets and ends with volley-fired flintlocks with bayonets. Not to mention that during the reign of Louis XIV there were some very snappy dressers on the battlefield.

Will no one else stand up for the 15th Century! The 16th does have cool looking fortifications and beautiful ships though. The 15th has almost all the stuff the 16th has plus old stuff from as far back as the dark ages can be used on the frontiers. There's a lot of weapon diversity and armor use is at its high point.

Mako1115 May 2016 11:35 p.m. PST
