Good morning! I was going through a box of miniatures in the garage and I stumbled across some of my first historical miniatures that I ever painted.

These Baccus figures were originally purchased for Mustafa's Grande Armee and I had a lot of fun painting them up. I think that was almost 20 years ago (or more). I still have a lot of unpainted 6mm. Maybe I should start it up again?

My blog has other Napoleonic pictures in 6mm and 28mm. Have a look!

When I get around to my test figures for 3mm I hope they are as representative of the units as these! Fantastic.

D8789 & Ragbones – Thank you both for the kind words and the support. I appreciate it!

Altefritz – Ha ha! Well… if I must, then I must, right? It really is fun to see them all lined up en masse on the base. Grande Armee is still a neat ruleset and the thought of having thousands of these miniatures surging across the battlefield sounds thrilling!

MB – I enjoyed painting 6mm a great deal. It was frustrating at first, though. For me, ink washing and highlights just lead to muddy looking figures. Luckily I tried the Baccus method with a black undercoat and bright colors. I was much more pleased with the results and began using that method exclusively.

I am a much better painter than I was back then. I wonder what I could do now? Would the paint quality look better? Would I be significantly faster? I ought to prime up a few stands and have a go…

I hope that your 3mm figures turn out well. Best of luck!
