Today I had the pleasure of hosting 10 middle schoolers in the shop. I talked a bit about the hobby and my business, and showed off how minis are made (greens, masters, molds), how they're painted, and so on. Showed off some scratch built terrain using plastic packaging, resin buildings and the like. Then we played a Lord of the Rings game. Scenario: the forces of Mordor have 10 turns to reach the gate with either (a) A troll or (b) a new magic (bomb). We only got through 5 turns but it was clearly a close run thing. Lord of the Rings with 10 noob middle school kids felt like herding cats a few times… Here is one shot of the action, with more in the link at the end of the post….

One does not just herd cats to Mordor. |

As a middle school teacher, I applaud your efforts. I'm doing wargames with ten year olds (my son and his friends) – it's fun, but I am exhausted at the end. |
