Anything stores or good sites to see in Santa Fe

There are the remains of Fort Marcy…not much left. The Plaza, of course, but the last time I was there the formerly good restaurants were serving squash blossom pizzas. The museum in the Palace of the Governors is pretty good and on the Plaza.

Go on to Albuquerque if you get the chance and go to Old Town Albuquerque. It has numerous good restaurants, all the souvenirs you can stand, and the two mountain howitzers on the plaza are part of the Confederate battery at the battle of Valverde. Also, a great zoo.

Active Imagination in Albuquerque was one of my nice places to game and there is another shop in Rio Rancho.

A short distance east of Santa Fe is the Glorieta battlefield where the Texas Confederates clashed with the Colorado Federals.

There is also a museum in old town Albuquerque for nuclear weapons. Pretty interesting Cold War history stuff.

If you have an hour to drive to Bandelier, the cliff dwellings are absolutely worth the trip. There is a short, flat 1 1/2 mile loop trail that gives you a great overview of the place.

And one essential thing – get up early to beat the crowds at the Tecolote Cafe. Their blue corn and pine nut pancakes are reason enough to go to Santa Fe.

The Pink Adobe, have the Steak Dunnigan. As mentioned the Glorietta Pass battlefield and Ft Union. Bandolier National Park, a ways North is Taos with Kit Carson's House and the Taos Pueblo as well as the Rio Grande Gorge. Near Bandolier is Los Alamos with their museum. In the Summer Santa Fe has a very good Opera (it's seen as a training ground for the Metropolitan Opera in NYC.) Also you can see/buy all sorts of Native American art/antiques.

Go along to Las Vegas and see how many movies and TV shows you recognise. The town has been used for such varied shows as Easy Rider, Paul and currently Longmire on TV. If you have time a long drive down to White Sands is worth it for the terrain. Also visit the native pueblo villages to the north west of Albuquerque.

Depending on the time you have and how much you want to drive you could see one of the most remote Anasazi sites in the US, Chaco Canyon. It's tough to get to but truly amazing. Northern New Mexico is one of the most beautiful spots in the US.

Go along to Las Vegas

Of course that's Las Vegas NM. IIRC an outlaw was hanged there in the days of the old West and they botched it and he wound up being decapitated.
