A 6mm proxy for Dropzone Commander: miniatures from Brigade Models, paint (and Magic Goo™) from The Army Painter… And cluster [bleep] by Trojan Points!

Cool project, your choices for the UCM are spot on.
Are you going to do any of the other factions and if so which models did you choose for them?
Bummer about the varnish accident, I hope it doesn't discourage you to much, I'd love to see more of this as it's something I've been thinking of doing something similar.

I have been able to respray the matte to clear up frosting but always a day or so after.

Good luck.

Could be worse – I once picked up a small can of chrome spray paint, that looked exactly like my Dullcote tin….

Oh, Dom, thanks for sharing!

Same thing happened to a friend over a year ago, he still whines on occasion. Have to admit, mind you, he does such good work *I* cringed when I first heard about it.

TP, agree with the work you're doing being right on, and the idea of using the container ships little short of brill!

@Stroezie…

Thanks! I think that's one major strength of Brigade Models: you can mix and match hulls and turrets to get exactly the look you're aiming for.

About other armies… I chose UCM for a reason, as the more conventional force their quite easy to proxy.

For PHR I'm thinking GZG 15mm spider drones legs with 6mm tanks turrets (no sure what manufacturer/range yet) for the various walkers, haven't thought further out yet…

@Lfseeney…

It's been months… On the other and I've not much to loose by trying…

@Doms…

Not sure it qualify as worse… Ruined minis are ruined minis, no? ;-)

@TheBeast…

I stole the "using smaller scale spaceships as 1/300 dropships" idea somewhere else (The Raskal Central).

After that particular "εὕρηκα" moment, selecting BM Modular Container Ship as medium dropship was fairly obvious!

There is also a Light Container Ship for light dropships…

And armed variants of both for gunships…

Leaving the container off and glueing ground vehicles underneath might also work…

Trojan – varnish frosting is often salvageable, either with a respray of varnish, or a brush-over with denatured alcohol. Chrome spray paint on the new paintwork definitely can't be saved…. ;-)

@Doms…
