Comments or corrections?

I occasionally get this message when posting.

"/mivacommon/boards/topics.mv: Line 577: MvLOCKFILE: Runtime Error: Error creating lockfile 'boards/topics.dbf.lck': Timed out waiting for lock"

It's Dear Editor's and Tango's cross to bear. Commonly discussed here, no new news.

I notice, however that my posts always seem to post and I don't get doubles or anything silly as long as I close that tab or the browser all together. I never hit the back button just close it.

The post will show, but the post count does not change.

For what it's worth.

Happened here:

After the next post the count has corrected itself…

Gerbils can't count, can they?

Cyrus the Great11 May 2016 8:33 p.m. PST

It seems to happen in the evening.

They mostly come at night…mostly.

Winston Smith11 May 2016 8:35 p.m. PST

The only thing that really happens is that it doesn't count towards the post count of that thread, until someone else posts there successfully.

And I just got one now.

The lockfile bug is an interesting beast.

In theory, it should happen when the server is busiest. (Which doesn't explain why it happens at night on TMP time, when the server is least busy.)

It also has a strange affinity for SmokeyRoan.

It also happens most frequently on the smaller forums – TMP Plus and The Lounge – which are much lower traffic than the main forum.

The bug fix I added recently seems to have slowed down the bug, but not made it extinct. frown

Well… in my experience… I cannot used the delete button (directly… didn't work)… also have problems with the "Author Search" one (mostly at night)… six from seven night times I have to wait hours to see one thread entering correctly and some nights none of them at certain hour (specially this hour for example)… also have the bug problem which send a Medieval one to ACW forum… the Forums with mostly problem to me were the "Terrain and Scenic", WW2 and Science Fiction… and of course, if I can get live one thread… impossible to crossport to other forum…

Except those little "details" … the rest is working properly.(smile).

So, PrivateSnafu you are not alone… at all!.

I just had it happen a few hours ago.

Pictors Studio14 May 2016 9:20 a.m. PST

It happens all the time. It just happened to me 6 times trying to post stuff.

I'd say it happens about 15% of the time I post.

Sadly this seems to be happening so much that it is putting me off posting here :( Shame because there's some great people on these boards.
