Watched the 'Blitzkrieg' episode last night. NMW is pretty light-weight and won't be taken seriously by the history buffs with its silly name and shallow uneven coverage of its subject matter, but it is "entertaining" in a History Channel sort of way. NMW combines glossy CG with footages of re-enactors (the one last night featured Hitler and Guderian a lot), but it also includes narratives by various historians from an "on-site" forensics perspective. The 'Blitzkrieg' episode last night examined a French outpost in the Ardennes that held up the tanks moving through the "impassable" forest for 4 hours, a German command and communications bunker used for Barbarossa and the Char B tank. All in all not a bad diversion actually. |
