Looks like there is a piece of static grass stuck on that guys canteen. Totally ruins it for me.  If I could go back in time I'd pick 20mm or 1/72 scale over 15mm. |

Nice job as per usual. US ATGs don't figure much in games though. Not as sexy as the SP TDs I suppose. Looking forward to seeing these in photos of a game in play. |

Cheers guys. The 3" gun is by Under the Bed Enterprise… A very simple casting in just a few pieces. Cheap and cheerful. The 57mm is from Elhiem Figures and is a great little casting. The crew are AB Figures… Lots more of them to come. Got around 100 Yank infantry to do next! |

Yeah thought the figures were AB. If I ever go back to 20mm they will probably be the catalyst. Very nice work as always Piers. I've got a brace of 3" guns for my 15mm Italy Yanks, must get a couple more. And before anybody asks cost, table space (I play IABSM and CDS) and I got sick of building kits for the vehicles, I blame multipart tracks. Fatman |

U.S. shoes were reddish brown not black. U.S. pistol holsters were leather, a light reddish brown, not as dark as their shoes. Also, the wool pants were greener than that. But, wow, Piers, you do good work! |

Yer need to do the holsters brown… Trying to speed paint so left them plain. For trousers I was going for this…
Probably should be a little greener in reality. Was gonna vary it on the Infantry. |

Brown and green are both right for the pants. My late war U.S. troops, like my Russians, have general shades and not uniform colors. Now the British and Germans are well turned out – uniform wise. |

For some reason, US olive drab wool uniforms look brown in color film -- especially Technicolor -- but they were, as the name says, olive drab: a brownish olive green. That box cover shows the light reddish brown holster about right. The shoes were various shades of brown/red-brown. I had a pair of army-surplus combat boots as a kid in the '40s. Notice the guy with the carbine has a vertical white stripe on the back of his helmet -- that indicates he is an officer. NCOs had a horizontal white stripe there (or at least sergeants did, not sure about corporals). |

US field drab wool pants are difficult to reproduce in paint. I've got lots of originals from WWII (for reinacting) – never have quite matched paint color. Kinda brown with a hint of green. For contrast many of us go more brown – may try a wash of dark green. Late war uniforms were all olive drab, but the field drab wool was used right to the end (and beyond). Nice to see US 3" ATG. Use in towed TD battalions generally for divisions that did not get an M10/M18 battalion.
Got negative reviews in Battle of Bulge – ending US interest in towed guns (at one time the decision was to use instead of M10s). Twice as heavy as a Pak 40 but with similar preformance. TomT |

Lovely work as always Piers! The 3in gun is a beauty. That AB sculpt is holding rather a large bullet for a 57mm piece, but I guess it's one size fits all with the castings.
What's this about AB stopping? Surely not?

I know guys in two different US infantry re-enactment groups, and their wool trousers always look a lot more brown than green out in daylight. Especailly when they are covered in mud:) Roughout boots seem to be pretty well any shade of brown going, depending how much dubbin is on them. The hardest things to match are M41 jackets which seem to fade to all sorts of wierd colours. So I do mine in a mixture of brown/tan/hint of green. M43s are green of course, until they fade, or get covered in mud. |
