Just bought some 6mm Brit Infantry and heavy weapons with a view to getting into either Sabre Squadron or Cold War Commander – but I have no idea what basing requirements are! Understand that base sizes are agnostic for both sets of rules, but can anyone guide me as to what kind/number of figs are needed for different units (looking at BAOR here.)

My 6mm British are on 3cm bases, 8 figs in a line. Based on the SLR equipped infantry section of the early 80s prior to the change into 2 x fire teams. The gun group is included, as with Sabre Sqn in this scale I am not too fussed about minor infantry tactics. Separate bases for SF GPMG. All of my mortars are based in 432s. Each section will include a 84mm and number of 66mm as standard,

Thanks Nick! I saw the example TOE published for Uk forces, it shows 3 different types of infantry – rifle group, group with Charlie G, and group with LMG – is this an issue with your basing?

The rifle section and gun group would manoeuvre together until a final assault when the gun group would be moved off to provide covering fire. The Charly G was, I think, a platoon weapon, so either a separate stand or allocate a section base to carry it.

It depends on how abstract you want to be, or if you are happy moving tiny bases around the battlefield. In the advance for instance the gun group would be racing all over the place depending on the terrain!

Thanks for response – I'm probably a bit brainwashed by GW and FOW TY, with directions to put X number of figure Y, and X no of figure Z on a base to represent a particular group – I was just interested to see what other folks did!
