I would like to put in a plug for Michael Krause's scenrio pack for France 1940.

We have played several and enjoyed them all. Last weekend for our monthly Combat Command game we played #46 The Phoniex – clash between the reborn French 1st Armored and most of a Panzer division.

It produced a tight battle with an interesting mix of troop types and equipment (from Char B's to Panzer Is). A nice feature was a flank attack by a reinforced German Rec Battalion. Highly recommended.

A few notes: though intended for Command Decision we had no trouble converting it to Combat Command and I suspect the same would be true for most platoon level games.

It took us a bit of time to work through the map layout but we managed (a nice feature is he also gives a standard "historical" map to compare with his game version.

As per Command Decision practice the OBs appear quite long (I'm convinced CD just hates trees). Don't be put off by the length; it mostly comes from CDs notation system for instance in CD you have:

1 Crew
1 Pak 36
1 Light Truck

Where as in Combat Command this would take only one line:

1 Crew Stand w/3.7N ATG + Truck

So what appears to be a huge multi-page OB boils down to one page usually.

We had eight players and managed to finish in about 4 1/2 hours. A great afternoon of gaming.

Our thanks to Mr. Krause for his well researched and nicely presented game – look forward to more.

Tom

I have been vacationing in Europe so please excuse this tardy but heartfelt thanks for your comments for my scenarios.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed them, and am grateful you found the time to add such kind comments.

Cheers

Michael Krause
