Hey Guys,
We have a large collection of 15mm Late Romans that belonged to a friend that passed away. So I'm busy painting Goths/Huns to take on this large force.
We hope to do a memorial game later this years. Any suggestions for rules that can handle a lot of units?
They are all WRG basing.

basic impetus (group four WRG bases together to form one impetus base)

My recommendation is the Comitatus rules set by Simon Macdowell. The rules are specially designed for the period and flow very well. Your basing should work well with these rules.

Comitatus by Simon MacDowell exactly fits your requirement.

Clash of Empires also calls for lots of units. That' what I'm planning to use for my Vikings & Saxons project…

You might consider Conquerors and Kings by Peter Pig if you want it to be simple and grand??

You might like to try "To the Strongest!"; we often game Late Roman battles with the rules in which I must declare an interest as I wrote them (to accommodate very large battles). I reckon to play a 2,000 mini game twice in a day using them, switching sides after lunch. There are Late Roman lists, too.

Thanks Guys!

I'd suggest "Hail Caesar!"

Impetus or Hail Caesar

You seem to have four good contenders. I can certainly recommend To the Strongest. Quick to learn, lots of subtleties that repay careful thought, quick to play, even for big games, and most importantly IMHO, tremendous fun!

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Giant Battle DBA works well with my large Late Roman army fighting Picts, Scots Irish and Early Saxons.
Whatever you choose, have fun.

Scutarii works well for large battles and uses WRG/DBX baxing. Rules can be learned in one turn and play fairly quickly. I have run Callinicum several times. The Rules can be purchased from Hoplite Research through LULU and there is an additional discount offered by LULU through May 13 of 25% using the code NURSE25
