For those of you who use pennies as figure bases start hoarding now.

Always wise to have plenty in stock, but the article says

"The Treasury – which is responsible for coinage policy – says there are no plans to withdraw the penny."

Now they wouldn't fib…

Canada lost the penny a few year ago. Luckily I had a big horde saved up. Still got plenty!

The fender washer and MDF lobbies are behind this.

However, Irish consumer groups have complained that retailers have used the opportunity to increase prices.

Surely not…? grin

While monetary policy moves slowly I must say that when the Canadian government decided on it the penny vanished quickly

Because 1 penny up will make you rich, naturally.

I once went to Canada, back when exchange rate was like .75 to 1.00 in favor of US, and bought $10 USD of pennies. I computed that they were cheaper than any other basing material for my The Sword and the Flame figures. I am still using them. Sorry to learn of their demise.

The trip was for shopping and a days outing with girl friend, not just to get the pennies. Well, that was my reason, not hers :)

Leonard is probably the most emotionally stable of the gang, so Penny isn't really doomed now that's she's married him. Oh, never mind.

I think that my coin jar has enough pennies to mount all of the 15mm figures I own and still have some left. And I don't even play in 15mm.

This article pertains to Europe only. The USA has no plans to eliminate the Penny. For those in the USA, or those using US Pennies for basing, all is well… For the moment. Cheers!

Thanks Sgt. Slag, that makes cents to me. LOL!
