Out today, seems to be taking the 4x world by storm.

It's Europa Universals meets crusader kings 2 meets epic space strategy.

While i never get far in paradox games, this is supposedly the most approachable of paradoxes grand strategy games.

So I'll give it a try

Yep, this is my get list; might be the 4X I'm looking for, with a heavy emphasis on interesting exploration and interaction. The only other *really* good 4X I've played recently is Stars in Shadow and that's still in early Beta.

Any good multiplayer 4x type games? I remember Masters of Orion and VGA Planets. Anything modern out there?

If you like strategy space games for the PC try Sword of the Stars 1st edition.

I tried Sword of the Stars, really wanted to like it but for some reason I never could really get into it.

I've enjoyed the Galactic Civilization series by Stardock but if Paradox can do for 4x what they've done with Hearts of Iron, I'm in.

Stellaris has multiplayer.
I want it mostly for the mods, imagine a B5, star trek or stargate mod.

You already have 3 types of FTL.
1. Warp (trek/SG)
2. Hyper space lanes (star wars)
3. Jump gates (B5)

So you don't even need to mod that.
All those options can be used in the same game, or you can limit it so all races in one play through must use gates ect.
