In the Frostgrave campaign supplement "Thaw Of The Lich Lord" a new soldier type is introduced, the Crow Master. The Crow Master has an unimpressive stat line but may bring along a Blood Crow, an animal companion with a similarly unimpressive stat line. High armor, granted, but as an Animal loses much of the utility that comes with an impressively high movement and ignoring obstacles.

Am I missing something cool about this Soldier type? Has anyone had any great successes with them?

only 25 points – can carry loot away while crow bothers people. I don't really see it as a good troop type

Javelineer is 25, Crow Master is 100. WAY too much for what he brings to the warband, IMO.

The crow can fly…that's worth something. Also, IIRC, the crow is expendable: if it dies, you get a new one for free. Also, you are getting two units for a single soldier slot, right? (I don't have the rules in front of me though.)
