Greetings from California where Cinco de Mayo is an excuse for excessive consumption of alcohol. Personally I intend to watch "Cinco de Mayo, la Batalla" and drink a couple of Mexican beers. I have run three games in the past based on the battle and each time it was a nail biter. Interestingly, the holiday, which has been celebrated in California continuously since 1863, is virtually ignored in Mexico. |

Typical American "Cultural Appropriation" Actually it was "culturally appropriated" by Mexican Americans back then….the rest of us climbed on board as another excuse to party -- like St. Patrick's Day. |

It is not a national holiday in Mexico, but it is celebrated in Puebla. Also, many of the Mexicans in NYC come from Puebla, though Mexican-Americans have made the day their own "St. Patty's". The Irish member of the Fencibles calls St. Patty's the day the amateurs come out to drink. |
