Has anyone tried out these rules by Naval Warfare Simulations? I'm really looking for something middle ground between Harpoon and Shipwreck. |

I own them but never actually played. I would say they are the middle ground between shipwreck and harpoon, but more towards harpoon. They are very well done and good value for money. They also have an in-built operational phase which allows you to play not only the excahnge of fire but also the movements before. And maps, counters, etc. They are a little too complicated for me. |

Are these miniature rules or a board game. Looks like the latter from their web site but not sure. |

Oh, I didn't realise. I am hoping miniatures can be used. |

They are a tactical naval game so miniatures could of course be used though the game is sold as a boardgame. I've not played yet, still reading through the rules and printing out the necessary bits (the charts and dta sheets). They seem to be a bit more abstract than Harpoon but with a significant level of detail, so I'd put them between H4 and Shipwreck. In particular they include information on helicopter endurance which could enhance ShipWreck and they include rules for RORSATs which has got to be good. Cheers David |

They give you ex maps of the oerational and tactical areas, so you can use it with counters as a boardgame. But you can also use a hex table and miniatures, or convert hex distances in cm or inches (actually I think they give those as well) and use miniatures on blue table with no hex. If you take your modern naval seriously and are willing to study a bit I would strongly reccommend it |

Just ordered the 70's/80's CD based on recommendations above. Looking forward to seeing the rules. |
