I've seen images on the web of Spanish and Portuguese militia in Corsican Hats. Also, a Spanish artilleryman in what is either a Corsican Hat or a bicorne with the back undone (Bueno image of crew at Talavera). Were Corsican Hats worn by Spanish and Portuguese militia? I know they were common among Austrian Landwehr and Brunswick Advance Guard, among others. |

The corsehut was a popular civilian style of the period, slowly giving way to the top hat. Both were seen on militia, irregular, and even regular (e.g., Josefino light infantry) units. |

Thanks! Always interested in adding variety and color to my units. Minifigs offers the Spanish Infantry Regiment Victoria in Corsican Hat in 25mm, and used to sell it in 15mm in the 2nd generation range. The Minifigs 1800 Artillery crew are in the uniform from Bueno, but I am still unsure if the hat is Corsican or a bicorne with the back undone! Jeff |

Also known as the Korsenhut for search purposes. |
