Just put up some new images on FaceBook of the Early Imperial Roman sets that we are working on.
These are some of the attacking poses. A more uniform advancing/marching set is also being worked on but just working on the Numidian Infantry set for the next couple of weeks and then back to Romans. We put a couple of nice character pieces in this attacking Romans set such as a flaming torch and severed head for those who like skirmish games and diorama style bases. We hope to add a few more of these bits to all the Roman sets coming. Steve. |

Looking good but yes, I am much more interested in less dynamic poses that one can rank on bases comfortably… |

Those are beautiful sculpts! |

These sculpts are really fantastic along with dynamic poses. The detail is amazing. Something very special going on here. Looking at these it is no wonder I got very excited that the new range could have (even though remote chance) been biblicals. Roman fans are very fortunate. |

Numidian Infantry you say????? Outstanding. Do they cover….slingers, javelinmen, archers and imitation legions? Please say 'yes'. |
Bobby W | 04 May 2016 3:31 a.m. PST |
Outstanding…. My Roman army will grow and my Successors will multiply thanks to Victrix. Parthians/Sassanids next please?? Imperial Romans need to kick around someone… |

And I like the breeches – nice work. |
WarWizard | 04 May 2016 4:21 a.m. PST |
Excellent. Are those going to be plastic or metal? |
cncbump | 04 May 2016 6:47 a.m. PST |
unbelievable detail. Beautiful. Need more Napoleonics with this kind of detail. What a joy to paint these would be… |
Mars Ultor | 04 May 2016 8:39 a.m. PST |
Warwizard: Victrix does plastic ancients. Not sure if they've ever done metal pieces for anything else, but all ancients so far are plastic. My first thought was why do we need more Romans in segmentata?, but the market does not have many plastics with such beautiful detail. And, given the popularity of this type of Roman armor, I think they'll sell wonderfully. Smart move. Never thought I'd get anymore EIR Romans, but given the many bits for the Dacian Wars, I pretty much have to (I'm currently assembling the Dacian side of the wars). Given said bits, Steve, are there concrete plans for Dacians? |

Great looking miniatures! |

Those are really oozing character! Thankfully I am already putting funds aside since the first announcement and the prospect of getting a marching set of legionnaries as well is just fantastic! Oh man, I really can't wait to get my hands on them 8-) Pretty please give us plastic Auxiliaries and cavalry as well!!!!! Cheers SP |
Mithridates | 04 May 2016 3:32 p.m. PST |
Mars raises a great idea – Dacians! I could easily go another few warbands if they were anywhere near as good as these guys. I can just imagine the dynamism of the chaps with falx. Gauls too please. Garry |
STEVE LBMS | 05 May 2016 2:00 a.m. PST |
Really pleased people like them. We have been working hard on these to get the details right and give some very active poses without compromising on undercut issues. It takes a lot of tweaking and adjustments to get the poses right as dynamic poses can cause undercut problems with the two way moulding system. The guy lunging forward for instance will have a split torso at the waist. This is so the upper body can be rotated flat on to the mould and get all those details sharp. Auxiliaries and cavalry are planned. A comprehensive range is the idea. Whilst making this range we will be jumping back and forth filling out the other Ancient ranges. As stated in the Face Book news we are working on some Numidian infantry. These will have options for close order infantry as well as skirmishers by having round and oval shields plus bare heads and helmet heads. Command parts will be on the sprue as well. Very much like the Samnite frames. No archers and slingers for these but they may come when we finally do the planned Elephant. The Greek/Macedonian cavalry have not been forgotten and will be worked on. Dacians would be a great range to do. I will have to work on Julian to convince him!:o) The Dacian wars have been an interest of mine since childhood. Gauls are a natural set or sets to do and will come in good time. Lots of plans but unfortunately they can't all be worked on at the same time. Steve. |

That's great news all round!!! The EIR range is a dream come true 8-) Cheers SP |

I am looking forward to these figures. One request would be for EIR Legionaries wearing chain mail? |
LEGION 1950 | 05 May 2016 8:35 a.m. PST |
Steve, is the Spanish cavalry coming soon? Mike Adams |
HANS GRUBER | 05 May 2016 8:48 a.m. PST |
Personally I prefer more passive poses, but those active poses look really great. One request would be for EIR Legionaries wearing chain mail? Agree. Scale would also be nice. One possible solution might be to add a few pila and legionary scutums to the auxilia box. |
bwanabill | 05 May 2016 11:58 a.m. PST |
I agree that they look great. I love the facial expressions and facial details, along with everything else. But I'm just wondering why some of them are carrying torches. What is the whole idea behind that? |
Mars Ultor | 05 May 2016 12:10 p.m. PST |
Probably for diaramas where the mean Roman bullies are torching barbarian villages (bwahahahahahahaha!!!!) |
bwanabill | 05 May 2016 12:20 p.m. PST |
Well Mars, if that is the reason then I'm all for that! |
Trajanus | 05 May 2016 12:43 p.m. PST |
Never been one for dynamic poses but advancing/marching at this quality, I'd buy some just to make up a display model. Couldn't field them with my rag bag of various EIR stuff they would look totally out of place. |
Mars Ultor | 05 May 2016 12:52 p.m. PST |
BBill, if the actual figs look anything like the digital pic then they'll be the "cadillac" of EIR figures! Mine are moulded from Prince August moulds, pretty good quality actually and a little on the big side…but the quality of these guys though will probably really stand out. |
Delbruck | 05 May 2016 7:05 p.m. PST |
Excellent. Definitely something to look forward to. In the mean time, any word on the Spanish cavalry? |
STEVE LBMS | 06 May 2016 2:00 a.m. PST |
The Spanish cavalry will be a few months yet. The Numidian cavalry are in tooling next and then the Spanish. It usually takes about 6 to 8 weeks to layout a tool for cutting and then about 6 to 8 weeks to cut the tool so quite a lengthy process. Plus they have to sit in the tooling queue whilst other sets are cut. The Macedonian and Successor infantry are out next this month and they were finished sculpting around November so that should give you the length of time from finished sculpts to plastic sprues. Steve. |
Mars Ultor | 06 May 2016 5:53 a.m. PST |
Thanks for the insight, Steve. Maybe that will stop the overwhelming flood of petitions for new sets ;-). Well, at least it's a compliment on the quality of figures. Since everybody is putting in their two cents, I thought I might add that when you get around to doing Celts you might make some differet/older helmet and/or shield styles to represent different Celtic types (Galatians, Celt-Iberians). They did span quite a time period. |
fantail | 04 Jun 2016 4:24 a.m. PST |
The newly posted images of the marching/advancing EIR look fantastic but why did they do one set in trousers/Braccae and one not in them? Why not all one or all the other? |
