Which of the various empires that used chariots as weapons of war is your favorite? |
GarrisonMiniatures | 03 May 2016 12:57 p.m. PST |
Hard choice, because I've got Assyrian, Egyptian, Persian and Celtic armies… but probably Assyrian, though not one recognised by current army lists! |

I have unpainted lead for Ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, Early Hebrew, and Philistines. Have no idea which one to start painting first. I already have Persian and Gallic. Maybe I am a chariot nut and didn't realize it. |

I've always liked the Hittites, mostly based upon reading about their cities and architecture and the tantalizing glimpses into their diplomacy provided by the surviving cuneiform tablets. They were interesting people. |

Like the look of the Sumerian horses. Assyrians for the paint schemes and Egyptians for the great chariot engineering. |

I have British Celtic chariots and loads of Egyptians and I like the look of both – but there's something wonderful about the chariots of Sumer. |

NKE. Problem is that you get one chariot army, you need another to fight against! Btw if this were fantasy, I'd vote Khemri tomb kings. There is a connection between my picks. :-)

Only two ancient armies I ever seriously wanted to collect were New Kingdom Egyptian and Israel. So NKE would be my choice. |

Since I've started painting up my mountain of lead for the pseudo-Trojan War project, I'm going with Trojans and assorted allies, and the Mycenaeans. It surprises me that some enterprising company hasn't added more variety in 15mm for this period. While Essex, MY, OG15s, Mag. Militum, Museum, and Black Hat all make figures for the period, there just isn't enough variety and I'm having to press in Assyrians and Etruscans to fill out the ranks. While all of the companies mentioned above have some good figures, they just don't match up to the 'wow' figures available for the period in 25/28mm. |

All in 28mm Mycenaean Trojan New Kingdom Egyptian Hittite Canaanite (just a few units to round out the NKE or Hittites) Assyrian Chinese (Qin and Han) Ancient British (the starting of another project!) I would have Sumerians but never found a good chariot/cart although I bought the infantry Like someone else said – I must be chariot nut as well and remarkably, some of these armies are painted (but not all)! You can see pictures of my NKE and Mycenaean armies in action in this War & Conquest battle report here link Here at Scarab I have just commissioned some more figures to restart our NKE range, so expect to see more of that, and other chariot forces later in the year Kind regards Rob Broom scarabminiatures.com warandconquest.co.uk |

Rob…great news. Need to revamp my NKE. I am in. Is other chariot forces Hittites? Always room for some more of them. Nice battle and report. |

Hi Colin Yes Hittites are the logical opposition along with some Mycenaean items I expect |
Timotheous | 16 May 2016 5:17 p.m. PST |
Hittites for me. I built them in both 15mm and 25mm. Only have the 15mm now. |

Mitanni (Mittani) for me, presumably, as it's the one I've got. I've also got a few British chariots, but they hardly qualify as an "empire", and anyway I've only got a handful of them. |
