Would you be interested in miniature figures designed specifically to depict the characters and armies in the Game of Thrones book/TV series?

(a) Yes! I want Game of Thrones figures.
(b) Maybe.
(c) No. Existing miniatures are suitable.

c, Dark Sword Miniatures already produce them.

I bet the license to produce them will be really expensive .

I have no idea what these would look like. Any GoT fans have a panorama shot of the cast? Rule 34 makes me reticent so image search for pop culture things…

Most of the armies of the houses have standard medieval European armour, but there are some exceptions : The Lannister troops, the Unsullied, the Dornish. But I think that's it

I prefer the book style over the show, and the book is pretty much straight-up medieval, so I guess I vote C.

D. No interest in gaming Game of Thrones.

@cohort, you are correct, although Dark Sword's figures are 54mm and rather expensive. I don't think most would consider them suitable for the sort of tabletop wargaming that I had in mind.

A – in 28mm!

Dark Sword's figures, whch BTW are licensed by GRRM are not 54mm (okay, a couple are but the vast majority of the line are "heroic" 28mm, closer to 32mm.

OK, yeah … (c) …

Game of Thrones cast

… I think I already have miniatures to cover all of them.

Dark Sword are terrific Miniatures but they aren't cheap. If someone were to make a line they would run into copyright problems, not just from HBO but from GRRM.

Of course if you follow the books you can easily do Tyrells and Lannisters as WOTR types, Starks as HYW, Iron Born and Wildings as Vikings/Dark Ages types. I imagine that for Unsullied you could do Ancient Infantry, like Republican Romans or Greeks or something. For Dornish I would consider Arab forces from the Crusader period. Add in some Normans and Early Crusaders here and there for variety and free companies and the like. Oh and Mongols/Huns for the Dothraki

The HBO series of course has its own look, especially in the helmets, but by and large you see Southerners in Full Plate, less full plate the further you get from Kings Landing. The Armies themselves though, in both the books and the series, seem to me to be ahistorical. Heavy mounted Cavalry is a lot more important and the battles seem to be dominated by Cavalry Charges. Now if we take what GRRM says, that his inspiration is the WOTR, then this is flat out wrong. But of course everybody loves a good cavalry charge.

Dark Sword's excellent, long-established, extensive, 32mm range is relatively expensive because Dark Sword did the right thing and ponied up for the official GoT license.

I reckon that's a practice that's well worth supporting – I'm fed up to the back teeth with wink-wink, nudge-nudge IP theft from companies who'd cry like a cat in a mangle if somebody pirated THEIR stuff.

Any other proposed GoT miniature line is going to run into the same pricing issue – they're going to be a premium-price range to cover the cost of licensing.

Agreed and they are terrific figures.
