I asked this question in The Lounge, and it seemed like a good prospect for a Poll, so I thought I'd trot it out here, as well.

I keep seeing people selling off their AQOMF armies.

I'm guessing this happens with any title which doesn't survive the vagaries of the market or fails to make a big splash or just ages less-than-gracefully…

But… SOMEBODY is buying all these things being sold off, so I am assuming that they are still getting played, somewhere.

This might not warrant a board for such games individually, but maybe there is a place for a catch-all board covering those gone-but-not-forgotten titles that some few people still play; niche titles, perhaps, but still good games.

Yes, I realize that they can be covered by virtue of their subject matter in already existing boards, but it might be fun to sort out these "zombies" and the necrogamers who still play them – like me – in a living graveyard of their own.

Sure. Why not?

HidaSeku02 May 2016 2:21 p.m. PST

Sure. I like the term necrogamers.

In which case it's not a "dead" game.

MajorB, I agree, but let's face it, we could walk across the Atlantic on posts about GW games, dead or alive, but when was the last time anybody – (besides me and my tiny group) posted an AAR about VOR or AD&D BattleSystem or Star Wars Miniatures Battles (West End, not WotC) or the seemingly-vaporware All Quiet in the Martian Front?

But you make a good point; they're not dead as long as somebody plays them.

Hence, maybe a board for them?

Dasher02 May 2016 2:52 p.m. PST

I guess I need prospective poll questions:

1. No, too many boards already
2. Perhaps, but only one board for all "orphans"
3. Sure. Just stick to one board
4. That is not dead which can eternal lie. (Kidding about this last one.)

Just because no-one posts an AAR doesn't mean that the games are not being played. I play loads of games but I am not in the habit of posting AARs.

As for AQOMF, there were at least two games being played by two different groups at Salute this year, so hardly "vapourware".

one board for each scale, period, nationality and location.

Except for TSATF, they'll all be orphans some day.

There can never be enough boards.

If you leave Jim Carrey out of the movie, it's a nice little set of adventures.

Another board? Sure!

A board for games which no-one plays, what a great idea!

Why not discuss them under their period specific boards, otherwise how are they going to be found?
