Hello all.
Those who have been following my castle keep project are finally seeing an end to my insanity – I mean terrain piece…lol…
At long last, with the etching of the stone completed, I was finally able to add roofs and doors to the towers. Everything finally got painted, and the castle was attached to the scenic base.
I think the final color scheme works really well. I have the castle a greenish gray color with smaller amounts of black and blue mixed in. I wanted the stone to have an aged and discolored look and not look like brand new granite.
I purposely contrasted the color of the castle keep with the color of the natural rock formations on the terrain so that it would not all look like one monotone gray throughout the whole thing.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the project. Insulation foam is a fantastic material for making stone buildings and structures, it takes etching very well, whether you use a pencil or a pen, both are effective.
Here is the castle keep finally nearing completion, all that is left to do is make a banner for the flag pole and apply some flock to the ground surfaces.
Hope you like the results!:
