Today, I went to a castle up the coast from where I live, it changed hands several times during the Wars of the Roses, and was left to decay afterwards, which explains its ruinous state
I took a few pics if you are interested in seeing them? link

According to English Heritage, the ruinous state is as a result of it having fallen into decay AFTER the WOTR.

Yes, it was damaged in the wars, but was left to decay afterwards, which accounts for the majority of the decay.
I have corrected the first post, thanks!

I trust you stocked up on Craster Kippers?

I didnt get any kippers, but had a lovely fishy lunch at one of the busy pub-restaurants!

I was a bit amused at Craster being next to a castle, is it in Game of Thrones called Craster's keep??!

"Craster's Keep" is a squalid hovel where incest is the recreational activity of choice and domestic abuse reaches previously unheard-of heights.
Probably best not to mention that in Craster village.
