That's a great photo from the German perspective looking at our front lines 2 blocks away. Which held. Barely. The game almost turned when Sgt. Guiness rolled 4 sixes in a roll, in single die rolls. The first two rolls saved German squads on morale. The next one caused a hit one my one Russian tank (our only armor), and the last one brewed it up. But, . . . They were followed the next turn by GoGators precise placement of smoke to cover two of my Soviet heroes reoccupying a block. This was followed by a six he rolled for a key sniper shot, and immediately after by a second 6 I rolled. It's result was that my third Soviet hero destroyed in close assault one of the two German tanks that were threatening the docks, which motivated the other to draw back, stabilizing the situation at the end of the game. It was a draw, based on the victory conditions, and one of the most tense games I've played in in many a year. Hard fought, and well-played by all players. Our thanks to Rob for setting up such a challenging and balanced scenario. Rick |

Florida Tory, That was an awesome game! Rob really is a great GM. I always have fun in his games, even when I'm getting hosed. The hand made terrain was some of the best he's ever done. He even won a best of show award for it. The troops were great as well. The scenario was very challenging and fun. My forces were getting slaughtered by your comrades insanely accurate artillery fire and deadly Soviet snipers. I finally wrested away 2 of the 3 buildings from my objective list. The 4 D6's in a row finally allowed me a little breathing room and being near the end of the game ensured our victory until you managed to sneak back into the building on the opposite side of the road with your hero and sniper to bring the game to a draw at the conclusion. A very fine game indeed, well played by the combatants and expertly run by the GM. Thanks all around gentlemen. Until next time….. Cheers, Sgt. Guinness Sgtguinness.blogspot.com |
