Does anyone know if the houses and hotels from monopoly would work as a cheap option for houses for 6mm wargames? I haven't found a lot in the way of 6mm 18th century buildings let alone ones that I like. And does anyone know of some good sites that show how to make terrain? Thanks - Dan |

They are too small toatch up with 6mm figs in a 1 to 1 scale but for modelling towns and such they work very well. |

Are they a good height though? I don't want a cavalry figure to be towering over a building, it would look ridiculous |

It's true: a 6mm cavalryman will be bigger than the house. There are a range of solutions. If you're UK based, you can buy nets of small wooden buildings in toy shops. (Supply is unreliable in the US, and shipping costs are serious.) But if I (still) needed serious quantities in that scale, especially in the US, I'd use card. Draw out all four walls and a tab and copy them on reasonably sturdy paper, or cut out a few and use them like stencils to draw on said sturdy paper. Then cut them out, score the paper on the folds, fold and glue the tab. Cut out the roof in one piece and score right down the middle before folding. If you've never done this, there are on-line sites for free paper buildings which will give you the idea. Remember it's microscale, not a diorama: you're looking for mass effect and not a single perfect building. |

The hotels might work ok as houses representing an urban area. I use them for 3mm-scale barns and manors. You can buy them from Picoarmor by the 100 too. |
