How many vehicles per side in a 100 point game? Aka how much do I need to spend? |

Cost depends on what you build but here is a 100 point army just as a starting point: Soviet Afghansty: HQ – 1pt Air assault -7 AK stands – 10 pts AGS, AT, AA – 4pts Air assault – 7 AK stands – 10pts AT, AA – 3pts Hind x 4 – 12pts Hind x 4 – 12pts T72 x 6 – 27pts Shilka x 4 – 4pts BMP2 recon x 4 – 6pts 2S1 x 6 – 10pts OP – 1pts If I wanted to add 2 SU-25s I could change the artillery and recce Su-25 x 2 – 7pts 2S1 x 3 – 5pts BMP1 recon x 4 – 4pts All adds up to 100pts ………. @leobaron2000 When you asked "How many vehicles per side in a 100 point game? Aka how much do I need to spend?" My first thought was: "this is going to add up to some money." I have not yet 'joined' in the game, but still watching and learning, of course the models are always the draw point that gets me. HOWEVER…. once I got a look at the various 100 pt lists that @Extra Crispy was good enough to post. After just one look at a 100 pt list for "either" force, it seems pretty clear its going to easily run a couple of hundred bucks. Not saying the quality isnt worth it, just that this is a game thats going to require a pretty hefty financial commitment to build a force of this relative size. |

6mm scale is your friend. |

I'm leaning towards 50 points. I think 100 points it would start to look like a parking lot |

In MicroArmor the game looks great, and you can build a 100 point army for $100 USD or less, even at GHQ prices! Shop around at CinC or Herocis & Ros and do it even cheaper… |

FWIW: I have found that most games/periods need an investment of @ $100 USD-$200 investment to have playable forces that cover lots of scenarios. |

I think 100 points it would start to look like a parking lot It would look like a parking lot no matter the points cost in 1/100 anyway given the command distances. The helos are so close that you'd think their rotor blades would collide. If you don't like having to pack your minis in close proximity you probably should play TY in 6mm or smaller without halving the distances (command, movement and shooting). |

I saw the 50 point demo games. Those look about right. I got the whole exponential distance thing. |

If you don't like having to pack your minis in close proximity.. play TY in 6mm or smaller without halving the distances (command, movement and shooting). "WithOUT" halving the distances? Hmm.. I would have thought just the opposite. Like using 10mm for infantry, I cant argue that the smaller the scale the more you can put on the field, but just something about 1/100 – 15mm that looks so cool. As for the range/scale factor, I have been thinking of doing some 'home brew' rules, based heavily on Bolt Action in 15mm, just halve all of the range/ movement factors. |

Agreed. I love the aesthetic. I'm actually a 28mm guy for that exact reason. I want my games to be fun but also impressive visually. |

This crowding issue is the oddest topic but keeps coming up with the odd suggestion to use micro armor to solve. As long as your miniature tank is large enough to cover the area appropriate to operate you don't have a "crowding" problem in game terms (and get the visual appeal of the larger miniature). For instance if you playing 1-1 and your terrain is 1"=10' you need a tank big enough to cover 20-30 yards (so 2-3") so that you don't "overstack". If your playing micro armor you can cram 3-4 tanks into a 2-3 inch area (20-30 yards) causing overcrowding. Of course you could mount the micro tank on a bit of card 2" square card to avoid but that is rarely done. As another example in Combat Command a tank model represents a platoon but the ground scale is 1" = 50 yards. So a 20mm miniature measuring 2"X3" covers a box 100 yards wide and 150 yards deep to avoid "over stacking". If using micro armor you could cram 2-3 micro tanks into this same box (I suppose you could double the ground scale). I think this is a solution looking for a problem at least in the larger scales.
