Looks like the F-35 and the F-18 Super Hornet (they're really not super) are getting a bit more competition, now that Saab has dropped out.

The latter company withdrew their Gripen offering, since they believe the fix is in for the F-35.
It will be interesting to see what transpires, especially since the F-35 won't be fully operational until 2022, or later, even though they're trying to claim one squadron will be "operational" later this year.
Not really sure how that works, when the software to fire the guns doesn't work, and won't be coded for several more years.
I read a headline that the radar issue has been identified. The problem was the radar would shut itself off, or not boot up, periodically.
I'd love to read the fine print, and weasel words that get used, if/when the F-35 does get "certified as operational" later this year. I suspect between now and then, the company lawyers will be burning the midnight oil on that little project.
My choice would be the Typhoon, but no one is asking me.
Perhaps they should.
