If you like the feel of pulp era gaming …

Yes, its a color picture.

… you might like it better in black and white

"Life ain't 'nice and neat', kid, and the rules ain't 'black and white'. Life is messy and the rules are shades of gray. It don't make it pretty but it does make it interesting."

Most of the "film noir" movies were in black-and-white, as were most of the "serials" . . . and it really suits the Pulp period very well.

Wonderful figures, sir. Truly excellent.

Fantastic.
You make it look so straight forward and almost easy.
I'd be tempted to do this for lots of periods now, Flash Gordon, WWII, etc

If you're going to use B&W, shouldn't you also use flats? :-)

This is a very cool art project.

Thanks, all.

It wasn't easy for me, but it was a lot of fun. I do have some b&w paper terrain as well as a couple of gangster and old west buildings that are in greys (not by intent for this … just part of the regular idiom). I am planning out for some more b&w terrain with the intent of making most of it dual purpose – not odd looking next to color terrain pieces.

I think this will culminate in a transitional b&w and color board a la Wizard of Oz (the transition, not the plot).

I do have a bunch of very cheap WWII figures that would be great for this treatment. I would probably need to do a couple of B&W kaiju to go with them for 50's giant monster movies.

There's a set of 3" King Kong 1933 figures from Japan in glorious black and white, I have the Skull Island Kong from the set for my kaiju gaming. There's also a t-Rex and ESB Kong, though the scale wavers, the set isn't really for gaming except for the Kong I have.

Great looking paint job on your figs here!
