Can you put credits up so we can see what they all are? |

Anyone recognize the unit symbol on the 4th photo down – the croc with the palm tree? Thanks! PS – I always thought the armored shroud on the Sentinel tank's bow machine gun looked unfortunate. |

Gear Pilot it's from the 2nd AIF (Australian Imperial Force) 4th Armoured Brigade. |

Let's see, from the top I think its Sentinel 2 pdr Sentinel 17pdr Bren carrier 2pdr Matilda II Valentine Grant Churchill Yeramba T34-85 Pz 38t Hetzer Hanomag Some guns |

JDUK – not sure about the first one (cruiser mkI?) then I think its a Cruiser mkII (Early tanks aren't my forte), 2pdr Tank attack carrier, Matilda mkII, Valentine, M3 Grant, Churchill MkVII, Yeramba SPG, T34/85, 38t, Hetzer, a Sdkfz 250 and then lots of guns. The mass knowledge of the mighty TMP'ers will correct any mistakes for me as there is always something new to learn about WW2. Hope this helps (and is halfway correct). BALM. Timbo types faster than I do :) |

I don't believe the Mk 2 was ever built, only theorised and then skipped in favour of the Mk 3. That is a Mk 1A, the next is a Mk 4. The last is a selection of Japanese artillery. |

The second Sentinel is not the 'real' 17pdr version, the 17pdr trials tank used the second model hull and a new turret, currently in the Australian War Memorial collection with the equally experimental 25pdr mounted in the turret. The one in the photo just has a length of pipe bodged onto a 2pdr mantlet. |

Didn't realize there was a Sentinel 17 pounder – thought they were all 2 pounders and quickly relegated to training role once US tanks available. |

Neat! When I saw the title I was expecting pics of tanks on top of rock piles though… |

Is the Hetzer from the TV program "Combat Dealers"? as it looks to be a similar camouflage scheme. As they did take one down to Australia in one program. |

The different types of tracks really jump out in these pictures. Thanks for sharing! |

Sentinel 2 pdr Sentinel 17pdr
The second Sentinel is not the 'real' 17pdr version… Sentinel is an interesting beast, to be sure! For those interested, there is a very nice pair of videos and discussion of the Sentinel on the Chieftain's Hatch: Vid 1: Outside the Sentinel YouTube link Vid 2: Inside the Sentinel YouTube link Discussion on WoT forums: link PS – I always thought the armored shroud on the Sentinel tank's bow machine gun looked unfortunate. "Unfortunate" is an interesting term in this case … The Australians did not have the Besa MG available (or perhaps they didn't want the logistical burden of using a 7.92mm gun in only this one application), so they went with the .303 MG that was suitable for the role … the Vickers. This is a water-cooled MG, and they put an armored housing around the water jacket on the Sentinel. This armored housing gave the Sentinel's MGs, and in particular the hull MG, an "unfortunate" appearance. For those who want to see just how "unfortunate" the appearance was, check the second video at Minute 16:00 to 16:30. (Warning, might not be suitable for viewing in mixed company or an open office environment. You will break out in laughter rather abruptly.) -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Odd how the museum let him film in their T-72 but not in the Sentinels. Anyway the comedy value of that shroud has long since worn out. Do we have any documentation for the second Sentinel? I've seen a bodged turret before and it was nothing like this. The previous Townsville RSL had an old Matilda out the front for several years after TAFE students made a new turret for it. It looked like something out of a deception unit. |
