I saw this on facebook and had to investigate. A hex grid map of the world, 9'x21' (yes those are feet indicators)!

Back in the 80's lots of multinationals had these on conference room walls just to show where their subsidiaries were located and where they had ongoing or completed projects. In the Houston, Sugarland office Ma' Fluor's looked like Earth had contracted measles. |

Hang on – that looks like a Mercator projection map. Which means that hexagons near the equator are a diifferent scale to those further north or south. Variable scale hexes? Must make for interesting games [think warships having differing top speeds depending on theor latitude…]. |
