In the 1926 "The Black Pirates," the pirate captain is seen with his knife firmly grasped in his teeth. However, the blade shows no sign of rust. The Captain does swill copious amounts of rum. So does it follow that rum prevents rust?

Contrary to RN legend, Nelson was shipped back to England in a cask of wine.

But Packenham was shipped home in rum.

We may be approaching the Kickapoo Joy Juice problem.

(For those who don't remember Cold War vintage Al Capp, The military at one point discovers that persons absolutely sizzled on the home brew of the Kickapoo Indians were immune to radiation. However, they eventually realize that fallout would be less devastating than having the population high on the stuff.)
