It looks like there is going to be a points system worked out for AoS.

I don't really think it is necessary. The game works great as it is, but now all the people that complained about it being unbalanced will have to find something else to complain about.

Why!!!!!!

So mini-maxers can play tourneys?

"Balance" is the last thing I look for in a wargame. The most carefully crafted points systems will all fall apart under analysis, so why bother?
I would much rather have a good fun scenario.

Jeez, I thought it was a feature not a bug. I guess all those people who insisted they love the game because it had no point system will have to find something else to play.

I think they've taken a sensible approach. You guys who hate a points balanced system can still keep going with Option 1 or 2 and the gaming community that they've lost over the last 12 months can play using Option 3.

Makes good business sense to me. Listen to the customer, give them what they want and take their money.

I'm interested in narrative play. I hope that translates to warbands growing in power as they advance through a campaign rather than just going through more scenario books. Those are nice, but I'd like to have my own warband.

Makes good business sense to me.

Better business sense to have worked all this out from the get-go. The lack of a PS never struck me as a decision so much as an omission.

I love narrative play, and am probably one of the least competitive wargamers around. I have played many a WH (and WH40K) game with lop-sided scenarios, or both sides just fielding what they had painted up at the moment.

But PV's are nice to have for comparative purposes, no one HAS to use them. If you want to play with the min-max crowd that's going to work the PV system for all its worth, that's your problem.

While I initially responded to the news of this with dismay, I'll do the radical thing and withhold judgement until I get a chance to read thevrules…besides, the openly said that this point system was an option.
