I'm looking for some 28mm knights with early visored helm circa 1298 or so. Essex makes some, but are there any other manufacturers that make these?

Thanks – Allen

Front Rank has HYW Knights.

So does Old Glory.

I looked at those, but most of the Front Rank figs are a little too late for what I am looking for and Old Glory doesn't have many pictures of the mounted knights.

Thanks for the input!

There are a few other manufacturers to investigate here…

WRGMR1, thanks for the photo. Those are a little too late for what I am looking for. They have a hound skull bascinet. If you look at the Stirling Bridge and Falkirk Osprey, you will see what I am talking about. they are a bascinet, but with a very simple visor which is often flat or may have a little "bubble" where the nose and mouth are. I have collected a lot of medieval figs over the years and have not seen many of these other than from Essex. Black Tree's early 100yw range has one in the command pack that will work, but I haven't seen any other ones.

Thanks for the help!

Best not to take the Osprey book seriously…it's really not at all good. Essex make MAA that are pretty much spot-on. What you will toil to find is suitable figures for dismounted MAA with long spears. If, however – unlike me – you've got the skills to change swords or maces for spears that's not going to be an issue.

I am focusing more on the early part of the Wars of Independence and am using sugar loaf helmets, a few open face bascinets and wanted to mix in some early visored helms just for variety. For Bannockburn, I am picturing a lot more open faced bascinets which there are plenty of manufacturers for.

I'd go for more bascinets (open and visored) than sugar loaves (loafs?. Given how long it had been since Scotland had been in a war it would be reasonable to expect that lots of people were buying new kit since great-grandpa's old helmet had probably long rusted into uselessness. More importantly perhaps, medieval people were very fashion-conscious – how many people today would be buying Afghan coats and velvet flairs?

My lazy spelling is why I have a good editor for my rules!

There's a thing…what's happening with your rules? I'd forgotten you were writing them.

Just released them. "Vows of Iron" is the title. If you take a look at hobby news from mid March you will find the release story.

1st Corps/Curteys have some lovely mediaeval figures, with lots of different helmet choices.
