Would it be fair to say that there would not be any noticable difference in the uniforms in 15mm? |

If I am not mistaken, the Russian Observation Corp figures are always shown without their green "habits," and also with high boots instead of cloth gaiters. If I were doing Russians, I might just use typical line infantry in 15-18 mm. GdeP |

If in black gaiters no prblem, and if in summer dress (no coat) even better. The only difference was the issue of dragoon boots (because the dragoons were undergoing reorganisation and mounting on bigger horses – hence a lack of Russian SYW dragoons in any numbers). Observation Corps (foundry 28mm)
Musketeer grenadiers (foundry 28mm) in white gaiters so the OC stood out.

Olicana is an inspiration and the cause of at least 2 of my big wargaming projects! Punic Wars and Italian Wars. His blog is awesome |

As a slight aside on this thread, after the Observation Corps was disbanded and incorporated into the Artillery as fusiliers, what was the uniform? Kronoskaf ( link ) starts by saying that the regular fusiliers wore the same uniform as the artillery, but the detailed listing gives the uniform as light blue coat, orange waistcoat, white breeches ( rather than red, white, red given for artillery ) . Is the first reference to the cut/style of the uniform rather than the colours? Does anyone know what flags ( if any ) the new fusilier regiments carried? I was thinking of painting some of the spares from my regular infantry as fusiliers to add to artillery and limber bases. |
